Beginning to Work at Home Full Time

Most people who think about working on the internet would love to leave their full time job and just work at home. Sometimes people might make the decision to do this and later regret it. Before you do this, you want to be sure to consider all the ramifications of your decision.
One of the first things you should consider, and one of the most important, is whether or not you are motivated enough and disciplined enough to actually work from home every day for the necessary number of hours to get your work done. Many times people who work at home part time consider their job as something they can keep on doing or not depending on their interest. Sometimes having a boss is really beneficial since they keep you on task and on schedule.
Another thing you will need to consider is what to do about the benefits you will lose if you leave your present position. If you decide to work at home you will no longer have things like health insurance, paid vacations, and retirement plans that you might currently have. You might be able to get health insurance through your spouse, and he or she might have a retirement plan that more money can be put into, but you will still need to consider the possible loss in income and benefits that will come about with this change. It is more than your salary that you will no longer have if you decide to leave your job.
One of the other issues that might come up is that when you work at home you will not necessarily be getting a check for a specific amount of money each pay period like you are used to. This means that you have to figure out how to take care of your expenses when you have an uncertain and unpredictable income. You should see how much it takes to cover your day to day expenses to make sure that you will be able to cover these costs still if you quit your day job.
Finally, you need to make sure that you are really clear about what you will need to do in order to make enough money if you make this change. You are definitely going to have to spend some money in order to promote your business if you work at home, and this could end up amounting to a lot more than you might be thinking of. It would be wise to have a savings account with enough money to cover your expenses for about 18 months so that you have time to get your business up and running and (hopefully) profitable without worrying too much about where the money for basic necessities is going to come from.
Before making any decision on whether or not to quit your full time position, you should be sure to consider all of the factors mentioned above. Not everyone is capable of succeeding in this type of job, so it is best to consider all of the implications while you are still fully employed rather than quitting to start a business immediately that may or may not succeed

Your 5 Step Getting Started Guide to Being a Work at Home Mom

Getting started as a work at home mom is an achievable and fulfilling task. It also does not have to be an expensive venture.

So many mothers today are choosing to stop work and become a work at home mom. This is allowing so many of us to be fully in charge of raising the amazing children we have in the way we feel is right.

It also gives us the opportunity to care for our children yet still meet the needs of your growing family!

The Getting Started as a Work at Home Mom Guide will help you:

  • know what starting a business involves
  • Give you an idea of what opportunities are available
  • Provide you further tools and resources to download for free
  • Organize your work at home business space

ACTION STEPS TO TAKE:

1. Know what is Involved

  • Doing What You Love – Starting your own home business involves you using what you like or are good at and learning how to market that so that other people want to buy or use your services. The best place to do this I believe is on the internet. This way you don’t have to spend money on a premises and can reach thousands more people than you would if you set up only in your home town.
  • No Internet Experience – You won’t need to have previous internet experience because there are plenty of places that can do the set up for you or FREE TRAINING PROGRAMS specially designed for stay at home moms wanting to work at home. The second option is what I would recommend because the main reason you are doing this is so you can make money and not have to spend lots of money on getting your business started!
  • Be Prepared for a Small Financial Outlay – Starting your own home business will involve some financial outlay. If you are serious about building a profitable business that lasts a long time then don’t fall for the cheap website building options that many companies offer. The two things I have noticed is that

a) Firstly, you end with a website and no visitors so you make no money. You then end up spending more money on advertising to try and promote your site and draw in visitors.

b) The second thing I have noticed is that cheap website servers and companies are not very secure servers. This means that it is easy for people to hack into your site and plant virus’ making it hard for people to visit your site. Other viruses allow advertising you haven’t allowed to pop up to your visitor before they see your site. Often the advertising can be of inappropriate material. So please don’t get distracted by the cheaper options.

2. Know What Time Commitment you can Give

This is totally up to. Obviously you can’t do it full time because that is what you have chosen to do with your children. But rest time and evenings are great for doing a bit of work on your website, working through the next bit of training on how to expand your business or doing whatever it is that will make your home business work.

3. Know the Opportunities Available

These are limitless. You can start your business in any area you like. Craft, kids, gardening. The best idea is to choose something you are passionate about and know a little bit about. You are going to be doing a lot of research and writing about that topic so you want to be able to enjoy your work. Imagine being able to get paid for running a business in the area of your passion!

4. Do Some Training

There are plenty of training courses out there. One that is written by other successful Work at Home Moms is what I would recommend.

The training course I did was a FREE course for teaching Stay at Home Moms how to become Work at Home Moms. I have learn’t so much from this course and it is the first REAL help that I have found without feeling like I’m being ripped off in the process! It gave me an understanding of how the internet really works and why so many other people fail at the opportunities out there.

5. Set Up Your Work Space and Time Schedule

It’s important to have a space where you can leave your work and come back to it without having to pack it away all the time. This is especially important for Work at Home moms because we are at home for our children. Therefore their needs come first. We might get started on some work for the day but then need to play a game with them and not get back to the work space for some time.

Here are some of the things I take into account when setting up an effective workspace:

  • out of reach of curious fingers
  • good position to watch the kids play. (We have open plan living and my desk is near a window so I can keep an eye on inside and outside play)
  • Making sure I have all the supplies I need on hand
  • Good storage set up so it doesn’t make the rest of the house / room look too cluttered

For ages I just had my laptop and laptop bag. I’d sit on the couch to do all my work, it was easy to jump up to attend to the kids and when I had to leave for a bit I’d slide all my work into the laptop bag and zip it up so it wasn’t fiddled with. So don’t feel like you have to get too elaborate.

Following these 5 Steps will help you get well underway to becoming a Work at Home Mom! This way your business, your home and family will run smoothly and successfully!
